Jazz Benefit Concert in Havertown on June 2

Alto saxophonist and vocalist Grace Kelly, a renowned rising star in the jazz world, will play a concert with her quintet at 8 p.m. on Sat., June 2, at the Armenian Martyrs' Congregational Church (visit www.amccpa.org for directions). A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, and just 20 years old, Ms. Kelly has already performed and recorded with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., Phil Woods, Dave Brubeck, Dianne Reeves and many more.

Concert proceeds will benefit the Avedisian School expansion project, through which the Armenian Missionary Association of America (www.amaa.org) will continue its tradition of excellence in education by employing the latest solar and energy design systems in building the high school. Since 1999, the current award-winning Avedisian School has been educating nearly 300 children a year from Kindergarten through Grade 8. The new school will enable students to continue their education through high school graduation in an Armenian Evangelical environment, preparing them for higher education and service to their society.

Preceding the concert there will be light refreshments offered, beginning at 6:30. You will also be able to purchase and have autographed Ms. Kelly's CDs, including her recently released CD, "Grace", which features unique jazz settings of cherished hymns such as “Amazing Grace” and “Blessed Assurance”. To learn more about Ms. Kelly’s accomplishments and listen to her music, visit her website at www.gracekellymusic.com.

Tickets are only $25 for adults, $15 for students, and are available by calling the church at 610-446-3330, or by writing to gracekellyconcert@amaa.org.
