This concert is dedicated to the memory of
John Melian, longtime member of the church, classical music lover and amateur double bassist.
The Society Hill String Quintet was formed in 2004, bringing together one member from each of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s string sections to perform a chamber concert at the Society Hill Synagogue. Since then the group, which includes violinists
Paul Arnold and
Elina Kalendareva, violist
Judy Geist, cellist
Kathryn Picht Read and bassist
Robert Kesselman, has performed concerts around the Philadelphia area, including regular appearances on the Philadelphia Orchestra Chamber Music Series. Their programs feature music written and specially arranged for string quintet, as well as duos and trios.
Free parking available in the church’s parking lot.
